How to Do A Herringbone Braid

Start with Clean, Detangled Hair: Begin with clean, dry hair that is free from tangles. Brush or comb your hair to ensure it's smooth and manageable.

Divide Your Hair into Two Sections: Unlike a traditional braid that requires three sections, a herringbone braid is created with two. Divide your hair into two equal sections, holding one in each hand.

Begin the Braid: Take a small section of hair from the outer edge of the left section and cross it over to the right section. Make sure it goes over the top of the right section.

Repeat the Process: Now, take a small section of hair from the outer edge of the right section and cross it over to the left section, again ensuring it goes over the top.

Alternate Sides: Continue alternating between the left and right sections, crossing small sections of hair over to the opposite side. Make sure to maintain an even tension to keep the braid looking neat.

Secure the End: When you reach the desired length, secure the end of the herringbone braid with a small hair elastic or a clear elastic band.
